Sighișoara and Biertan Fortified Church – starting from Brasov

Overview

The tour begins in Brasov, a beautiful medieval city located in the heart of Transylvania. After picking you up from your hotel or meeting point in Brasov, we will start our journey towards Sighisoara, one of the most beautiful and well-preserved medieval citadels in Europe.

During the drive, you will be able to enjoy the picturesque scenery of the Transylvanian countryside, with its rolling hills and charming villages. Upon arrival in Sighisoara, we will explore the old citadel, which has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Here, you will see the Clock Tower, the Church on the Hill, and the birthplace of Vlad the Impaler, the inspiration behind Bram Stoker’s “Dracula”. You will also have some free time to wander around the cobbled streets and take in the atmosphere of this historic city.

After exploring Sighisoara, we will continue our journey to Biertan, a small village known for its impressive fortified church. The church was built in the 16th century and is surrounded by three rings of defensive walls, making it one of the most impressive examples of Transylvanian Gothic architecture.

We will have a guided tour of the church and its surroundings, and you will learn about the history and significance of this remarkable building.

After the tour, we will head back to Sighisoara for a delicious lunch at one of the local restaurants, where you will have the chance to try traditional Transylvanian cuisine.

Finally, we will return to Brasov, where the tour will end. This day trip is an excellent opportunity to explore some of the most beautiful and historic destinations in Transylvania, and I am sure that you will have a memorable experience.
