Overview
Get ready for an exciting journey through history and architecture! Our first stop is Corvin Castle, one of the most valuable medieval monuments in Europe. Originally a defense stronghold, the castle underwent impressive transformations over the centuries, becoming a sumptuous castle with Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque influences. Today, the castle is open as a museum and welcomes visitors from around the world.
Next, we’ll travel to Sibiu, a city founded in 1191 that was once the main Saxon city in Transylvania. With its stunning Old Town and colorful houses, Sibiu is a delight for the senses. Explore the historic center and lower new town, marvel at the old churches and fortifications, and soak up the strong Saxon characteristics that give the city a distinctive Germanic feel. Sibiu was even declared the European Capital of Culture in 2007!
After working up an appetite, we’ll treat ourselves to a delicious lunch in downtown Sibiu, the European Gastronomic Capital in 2019. Take your time enjoying the food before we continue exploring the city’s many sights, including the Lutheran Evangelic Cathedral, the Orthodox Cathedral, and the surrounding fortified walls. Get ready to be charmed by this picturesque Romanian gem!
