Rasnov Fortress is an impressive citadel located in the heart of Transylvania, Romania, just a few kilometers away from the city of Brasov. The fortress is perched high on a rocky hill, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside.
Built in the 14th century by Teutonic Knights, the fortress was strategically positioned to defend against invading armies. Its thick walls, towers, and ramparts were designed to provide a formidable defense against attackers.
The fortress is now open to the public and visitors can explore its winding corridors, rooms, and courtyards. Within the fortress walls, there is a small museum displaying historical artifacts, including weapons and armor used by the knights who once lived there.
One of the most interesting features of Rasnov Fortress is its well, which was dug over 140 meters into the ground to provide water for the fortress’s inhabitants during a siege.
